THE HARM OF AI (as of 2025 laws, regulations and experiences)

  • Environmental - electronic waste with hazardous substances, large water consumption, unsustainably and destructively mined elements, cause large emission of greenhouse gasses through electricity use.

  • Bias, inconsistencies and misinformation - AI pulls from all sources, currently little regard for fact-checking or reliable sourcing, misinformation can spread through AI use i.e. political, falsified information

  • Safety - AI used to change / fabricate evidence, deep fake / production of pornographic content etc. containing unconsenting adults and minors, replication of voices etc. unconsensually, the above resulting in scams, blackmailing, profiling, etc.

  • Misuse of data - uninformed consent or disregard of consent, AI training off of unconsenting people's art, writing, work etc, little to no option of opting out

  • Social impact - isolation, disconncetion form other humans, AI (romantic) companions, unemployment, furthered lack of i.e. academic integrity

  • Ethics - this regarding all of the above and more
